STOP THE GOP’S ALICE-IN-WONDERLAND TAX BILLS
———————————————————————————
#TrumpTaxScam
#NotOnePenny
#WhenWeFightWeWin

The House and Senate GOP tax plans are like Tweedledum and Tweedledee where it matters most:

• tax cuts are skewed towards corporations, foreign taxpayers, and the wealthiest, whose share of the cuts grows over time
• the deficit skyrockets
• middle-income benefits (such as credits to offset the elimination of the personal exemption) disappear after 5 years while tax breaks for corporations and the wealthiest continue
• income inequality is exacerbated
• cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will be next

Senator Merkley declared, “[T]his is a multi-trillion dollar heist of the American treasury to deliver those benefits to the very richest Americans." The GOP’s Alice-in-Wonderland “trickle-down” tax policy has always led to increased deficits and income inequality.

“I have a big income. If my income gets bigger, I’m not going to invest more. I'll just save more,” said Bob Crandall, American Airlines’ retired CEO, one of more than 400 millionaires who doesn’t want a tax cut. “…[A] tax cut is absurd… [They’re] saying we can’t afford to spend money, but we can afford to give rich people a huge tax break. This makes no sense.”

We can’t afford more GOP economic mismanagement. We must stop it.

(Leave a message if you can’t get through.)

SAMPLE SCRIPT
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling about the GOP’s tax plan, which is rooted in the fantasy of trickle-down economics. This failed tax policy has led to ballooning deficits and increased income inequality in the past and will do so again. We cannot afford more GOP economic mismanagement that showers tax breaks on the wealthiest at the expense of investments in programs that benefit the rest of us. Please do everything in your power to stop this destructive bill. Thank you."
