Trump’s tax plan is simple—give a smidge to the poor, huge windfalls to the super-wealthy -- and incur a pile of debt.

Under Trump’s plan:

• Income taxes for the top 0.1% would drop $700,000-plus, while the poorest 20% would pay only $60 less and the middle class only $660 less.

• “Pass-through” companies, like President Trump’s, would see tax rates drop from 39.6% to 25%.

• Revenue drops by $2.4 trillion over a ten-year period would balloon the deficit

• GDP would drop below 1% by 2019 and hit either zero or negative percentages within five years

Under regular procedure, a tax proposal like this would never get 60 votes in the Senate. Instead, Republicans are hiding instruction on rewriting the tax code in their budget, which they plan to pass a under reconciliation – which only needs 51 votes. The same tool was used to try to repeal the ACA.

Tell our Senators to follow regular procedure: There must be bipartisan hearings, a CBO score, and a chance for the public to weigh in.  And no tax plan should pass until Trump releases his income tax returns and the public sees exactly how he will benefit.
