INCO WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 9/11

"Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11."
-- President Obama

As we remember the attacks of September 11, 2001, INCO thanks all who work to protect America's best values.
ACTION PRIORITIES

Look at how our Community Groups take action.
From INCO Washington:
"Our Friday post card party mailed over 50 cards to our members of Congress and the Attorney General of our state requesting increased support for DACA and immigration reform to include families. We complained about the for-profit ICE detention centers in our state and arrests in our community.  We also sent cards to Senator Kamala Harris, thanking her for her endorsement of a single-payer health plan, and to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman of New York for joining special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.  We meet every Friday from 1-3PM.  Join us for lunch and a few post cards. It is personally empowering." Details on Friday venue: incoregon@gmail.com.

Look what Indivisible Guide urges each of us do this week:

Contact your Members of Congress regularly. How will they know what you want if you don't tell them?
  • Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and more; wildfires in at least 8 Western states; creeping sea level rise; earthquakes related to frackingclimate change.  Congress needs to adequately fund and monitor FEMA, EPA, and other agencies  overseeing America's health, safety, air, water, and lands. Read more here.
  • Tell your members of Congress to defend DACA and support legislation to provide permanent relief to childhood arrivals. 76% of Americans (including 69% of Republicans!) support legal status for Dreamers. Killing DACA is part of Trump's white supremacist agenda. Read more here.
  • Tell your Members of Congress to defeat Trump's tax plan. It's more of a scam than a plan:  more taxes from nearly everyone to give enormous tax breaks to the rich and wealthy. Income and wealth inequality on the current scale are proven to lead to society's instability, anger, and disruption. Read more here.
The '5 calls' app is a convenient way to make your calls. The app provides phone numbers and scripts so calling is quick and easy. Sign up here.
INCO and other Indivisibles stand firm against racism and white supremacists.
