Hurricanes and wildfires are pounding America.  Oregon is battling 11 major fires covering over 525,000 acers.  We need relief from these natural disasters and must prevent them from recurring.

These hurricanes and wildfires are worsened by climate change (http://ti.me/2xRQvZT, http://bit.ly/1ixGo4f). While Trump and the GOP refuse to address climate change, others are:
• Senator Merkley introduced the 100x50 Act to move the US to renewable energy (http://bit.ly/2pE4yyn).
• Portland launched the Portland Just Energy Transition (http://bit.ly/2f9T5mm).
• A Senate panel approved $10 million to fund a United Nations climate group http://reut.rs/2vUNAlN

Although Trump struck a deal with the Democrats to pass an aid package that provides immediate relief for recent disasters, Congress must still fully fund agencies providing disaster relief.  These natural disasters hit minority and low income communities the hardest (http://bit.ly/2eARKYP).
•The Trump administration proposes to cut FEMA, the Coast Guard, and grants to prepare for disasters (http://bit.ly/2xVc7o9).
• The National Flood Insurance Program, which protects families from floods, was extended through December but still requires re-authorization.

The Oregon delegation, which leads on climate change, secured funding to help fight the western wildfires (http://bit.ly/2jbQa0M).

Congress must fund federal agencies that help during natural disasters and must address climate change.  Our planet’s future hangs in the balance.
